I saw the marvellous and wonderful Elbow in Vicar Street last night. They were marvellous, and wonderful. Guy Garvey is so charismatic that it’s pretty much impossible not to have a good time at one of their shows. Another reason to buy an Electic Picnic ticket, yes?
Strictly speaking no, since I just looked at the lineup and they’re not on it. I’m not sure why I thought they were… but what the hell, Grinderman, a flaming jazz bar* and the best pies in the world will be there, so buy a ticket anyway.
*May be a composite of several blurry memories.

i’m beginning to wonder if everyone was at Elbow last night bar me. *sulk* still and all and anyways, you’re right, there is the picnic to look forward to.
More or less everyone, yeah. Four million people queuing for the cloakroom afterwards, it was a ruddy nightmare.
I was full sure Elbow were on the EP lineup too. Gutted. They are playing Connect on the same weekend though, so I live in hope… fantastic gig in Vicar St.
The word on the forum is that they’ll be confirmed over the coming weeks. Seemingly someone close to the promoters has a much longer list of acts than the one that’s been released to the public. So here’s hoping.
All of my friends in Dublin seem to have been there too- I’m gathering that from the fact that they’ve all become fans of elbow on their facebook profile.
I’ll definitely give the new album another listen r two over the weekend.
Elbow have confirmed themselves for EP on their website – happy days. Here’s hoping there are a few decent acts on that mystery long list too.
